IN SITU is a network of organisers who have worked together since 2003, focussing on multidisciplinary European works dedicated to public space. During the two multiannual community financing programmes (Culture 2000 programme ) running from 2003 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2009, the network’s activity covered project launches , artistic production , European residences and transnational programming.

In December 2009, a new programme entitled “Rendez-vous” was launched with the financial support of the European Commission (Directorate General of Education and Culture – DGEAC) aimed at supporting the development and evaluation of pilot actions promoting mobility. With the aim of re-balancing the relations between the old and new member states of the EU, an original form of governance has been developed based on the responsibility of the co-organisers for a specific geographic zones, thereby encouraging regional dynamics relating to transmission and contextual adaptation (Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Kosovo, Czech Republic etc.). This multi-hub structure is accompanied by a decision-making process adapted to each activity, enabling each actor to be involved locally while retaining a common identity in the artistic choices.

This method is the basis of IN SITU platform project called “The art of living together” which brings together 22 members in 19 countries.
