Surge | Love Music | Alex Rigg

Country : The United Kingdom

(UK)

SURGE runs projects to develop street arts, physical theatre and circus in Scotland. They work with artists, performance companies and educators at all levels of experience and also run the SURGE Festival, which brings new Scottish work and cutting edge international performances to the streets, theatres and unusual spaces of Glasgow.

Love Music creates and produces a portfolio of adventurous participatory projects and new music through which young people and communities can come together with musicians in a professional setting and participate in inspirational music making.

Alex Rigg has been making live events since 1982. These have taken a number of forms and been shown in several different countries. If there is a common thread to the style and content of these events then it must be a strong need to push boundaries around, to set foot on unknown soil and generally to play with our concepts of art outside its accepted form. He trained as an archaeological illustrator, drystone dyker, blacksmith, fine-artist, dancer, timber-framer and costume maker/designer.
