Anže Sekelj is a media artist predominantly active in the field of installation, sound, interactive design and video. Through his work, he challenges perceptions of space, culture, and the human condition, highlighting un-noticed structures of daily existence. He cleverly uses multimedia techniques, always blurring the lines between the used means of expression, while maintaining a consistent but diverse body of work. By merging aesthetics with layered meaning, his works create immersive, thought-provoking experiences that invite reflection and critical dialogue.
The project Chimes is an interactive sound installation designed for public space. Chimes invites people to engage physically and sonically with their surroundings.
Nine anodised aluminum tubes rise from a recycled plastic base containing a speaker and electronics. Each tube emits a unique sound when touched, allowing participants to co-create a real-time soundscape. It’s a shared experience—accessible, playful, and grounded in the presence. It is designed to be modular, allowing any number of units to be added or rearranged depending on the space.
What makes Chimes special is that it integrates sound snippets sourced from the local community. These could be instrumental recordings, personal confessions, or even spontaneous shouts—capturing both the heard and the unheard voices of a place. The result is a collective archive of sound, shaped by the people who inhabit the space.
