Biography

Societat Valentinas is my artistic research project focusing on the body and digital technology, which I have been working on since 2018. My work as an author, director and performer draws on my training in physical and gestural theatre, and on previous collaborations with different projects in France and Spain.
Societat Valentinas is interested in the relationship between the body and digital technology, how we use technological advances, and the tension this creates in our future as a society.
My proposals develop theatrical work in unusual spaces with a strong urban focus, where the body, movement and narrative are constructed in response to new technologies and the environment around us, encouraging audience participation and reflection. Societat Valentinas explores the presence of digital technology in everyday urban environments by inviting spectators to reflect on their social behaviour through their own use of new technologies. My artistic approach aims to develop regular exchanges with the audience, both during performances and at other key moments, using the artistic piece as an opportunity for discussion and exchange. The aim is to break down the barriers surrounding the artistic act and take it beyond the performance to other moments of sharing, learning and creation.

Artistic project

GET READY with us is a community care space in the middle of the city, where you can swap a manicure for critical thinking, sing your heart out covered in glitter, or find a tactic to resist collapse. Because Trojan horses are lurking in our neighbourhoods. In my exploration of the impact of social media on our bodies and minds in contemporary society, I would like to dedicate a project to TikTok. In its current form, this network is becoming a catalogue of political practices disguised as everyday actions. In the form of a confessional narrative, where the TikToker performs an everyday action while talking to the camera, I found several young women who are subverting the confessional narrative or beauty tutorial to introduce dissonance and activism into their discourse: we arrive for the make-up but leave with a few principles of sociological analysis around class conflict. How can we combine nail technicians, sociology, scrolling through TikTok, class conflicts, neighbourhood experiences, urban subcultures, popular entertainment, Marx, Gramsci, public votes, the Batallon de Modistillas, glitter and anti-fascist struggle? The time it takes for a manicure to prepare your garras for the fight.
