As part of the PLATFORM coproduction support programme, Cifas organised a research residency with Fuzzy Earth (Tekla Gedeon and Sebastian Gschanes ). They worked in close collaboration with Cultureghem at the Abattoir Market.

Their focus centred on urban food surplus as a dynamic ecological and social metabolism, observed through practices of collection, redistribution and transformation. Through daily engagement, including volunteering, cooking and exchanges with local initiatives, they gained insight into how surplus materials are held in circulation within community infrastructures. During the residency, they facilitated a Bacterial Kitchen event that brought together tasting, fermentation and conversations around microbial processes in food and waste.  As the team of Cifas reflected: “The sensorial aspect of the installation was very effective in getting people interested, giving a sometimes astonishing flavour to words and ideas. Sharing food also allows conversations to happen in a relaxed way, giving time and space for ideas to develop. ( …) It was a stimulating example of artistic practice as an opportunity for encounter and community-building, showing what role art can have in the city.” The experience offers a situated perspective that continues to inform Fuzzy Earth’s ongoing work on nutrient cycles and participatory ecological practices.

Fuzzy Earth is a duo formed by Tekla Gedeon and Sebastian Gschanes from Austria and Hungary, who joined PLATFORM in 2025. It was selected along with 9 other creations to participate in a coproduction support programme, offering residencies and programming opportunities for artists to thrive on a European scale. Their project evolves through the encounters with IN SITU programmers and European contexts.

In 2026, FUZZY EARTH are visiting the following partners:

> Cifas (Belgium)

> Artopolis (Hungary)

> Eye's Walk festival (Greece)
